Halloween is fast approaching, but before the end of October arrives, there are lots of fun ways to celebrate. From a Pumpkin Run to Spooktaculars, to safer trick or treating at local malls, event options abound! And on Monday, Oct. 31, both Publix and St. Augustine Outlet are offering trick or treat events. Take your pick from the list!
A couple days ago I posted about the fun stuff going on this weekend. The Jacksonville Symphony has an awesome Spooktacular that we’ve really enjoyed in the past as a family. The fun starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 at the Times-Union Center. The instrument ‘zoo’ is lots of fun for kids. The Spooktacular concert begins at 3 p.m. Oct. 30. Kids are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes. Best of all, it’s not all about candy! Considering how much candy kids consume around Halloween, that makes me happy! Tickets (starting at $6) available for puchase online or at the box office.
Other great fun for kids is at the Jacksonville Zoo. They have their own Spooktacular from 6:30-9:00 p.m., going on daily through Monday, Oct. 31! Tickets are $8 per member or $10 per non-member. $1 off ticket prices if purchased online.
Evergreen Pumpkin Run – Get your running shoes on and chase the goblins away! The race is sponsored by the Evergreen Cemetery Association and benefits the Jacksonville Historical Society. Registration fees thru Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 are $25 for the 5K and $30 for the 10 mile. Register the day of the race, Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 and the fees are $30 for the 5K and $35 for the 10 M. Race starts at Evergreen Cemetery at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. Location of Evergreen Cemetery: 4535 Main Street, (downtown) Jacksonville.
Orange Park Mall Safe Trick or Treating – Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 from 4-6 p.m. Free. Live magician show, crafts, giveaway, lots of candy. Masks allowed only on kids 12 and younger. No toy weapons and no hoods allowed. Great fun for kids. Location: 1910 Wells Rd., Orange Park, Fla.
St. Johns Town Center Trick or Treating for Kids - Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 from 3-5 p.m. Look for an orange paper pumpkin in storefront windows; the stores that have them are participating. On Halloween day, Oct. 31, St. Augustine Outlets is offering safe trick or treating fun from 6-8 p.m. Over 25 stores are participating; look for the orange pumpkin in the store windows for participating shops. Location: 500 Prime Outlets Blvd., St. Augustine, Fla. Adults should accompany children under the age of 13. Free.
